ESA 6 & 7 Online Course Offering

Register for Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works
October 22 - November 26

This course is designed with the teacher as learner in mind with the main goal being to help you bring the world of technology into your classroom. We will be using the text "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works" to show how technology can be applied using Marzano’s nine research based strategies, as well as Web 2.0 tools and other resources. We will attempt to take you from where you are on the continuum of technology integration and move you forward. Participants are expected to acquire their own text before the start of the course.

College credit is available for $40.

Register for Poverty and Resiliency: Implications for Schools and Communities
October 22 - December 03
This course will explore the effects of situational and generational poverty and lifestyles of those who live in poverty. We will participate in an active discussion of hidden rules, social classes, including: the mental models of poverty, middle class, and wealth. Furthermore, participants will explore how poverty affects our students and what this means for communities and educators. Participants will be responsible for acquiring either of the following books prior to this class. Bridges Out of Poverty, by Ruby Payne, Phillip DeVol, Terri Smith or A Framework for Understanding Poverty by Ruby Payne. Articles and Video by other authors will be provided.
Two college credits available for $40 per credit.

Register for 21st Century Skills: What Administrators Need to Know
November 03 - December 01
What skills do students today need for this new millennium? 21st Century Skills offers an opportunity to set a higher bar for student achievement. This class will examine the writings of several prominent organizations concerning 21st Century Skills and dialog about the challenges and/or barriers for implementing those skills in schools today.
College credit is available for $40.
